๐Ÿš— Quick update on Uber in Playa del Carmen

Published 9 months agoย โ€ขย 1 min read

Greetings from rainy Playa del Carmen! We've gotten a bit of rain the past few days from tropical storm Idalia but nothing too crazy.

This week I wanted to share a quick update on the Uber situation in Playa del Carmen.

I finally got around to writing a full blog post about what's going on with Uber in Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya!

๐Ÿ‘‰ Click to read it nowโ€‹

You might remember that earlier this year, Uber got the green light to operate in the state of Quintana Roo.

But due to strong opposition and protests from the local taxi union, Uber has been seriously struggling to get off the ground in the region.

There were even reports of violence against Uber drivers and passengers attempting to use the service.

Well, since then, the situation hasn't really changed.

It's still not safe to use Uber in Playa del Carmen and you most likely won't even find any drivers available in the app.

So my recommendation is still to avoid using Uber in Playa del Carmen, and opt for other transportation options like taxis or public transportation.

You can read more about the alternatives in the full blog post!

As always, if you have any questions about Uber or need help with your Mexico travel plans, feel free to hit reply and let me know!

I read every email and I'm always happy to help.

ยกHasta pronto!

Allison

P.S. While Uber in Riviera Maya has faced ongoing battles, there are many cities in Mexico where Uber works great. So if you're planning a trip somewhere else in Mexico, check out my Uber in Mexico blog post to learn more!

I can't believe it's already the middle of November. It's hard to think about the upcoming holidays when it's still so warm and sunny here in Playa del Carmen! Last week, my mom came to visit me and we went to Cozumel for a few days. We stayed at Hotel B Unique, which is a boutique adults only hotel located right on the water. The views are absolutely incredible, and we couldn't get enough of the oceanfront infinity pool. You can read my full review here for all the details! Unfortunately,...
